Before you book

  • This is a trip to Aegina, not Hydra, and it leaves from Piraeus: meet under the E8 sign at gate E8, a 10-minute walk from the Piraeus or Dimotiko Theatro metro stations. Piraeus to Aegina takes 40 minutes by Hellenic Seaways' high-speed boat or 1 h 10 by Saronic Ferries' conventional ferry, per the operators.
  • Not in the price: the ferry tickets, €30 a person (a €6 booking fee and a €24 fare), which the operator books and hands you on the day; the Temple of Aphaia ticket, €10; and tips.
  • At Aphaia, the listing says, EU citizens up to 25 and non-EU visitors under 18 enter free with ID. It gives EU citizens 65 and over a reduced ticket from 1 October to 31 May, then says only full tickets apply in October, so check at the gate.
  • The Agios Nektarios monastery and the churches of Paleochora are places of worship: dress for them and keep your voice down.
  • Cancellation, as listed: “Cancel up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund.”
